First thing is first, if you have not already packed your Summer To-Go Bag, CLICK HERE to figure out what to put in your to-go bag and to get that set up. This bag will be important to keep your kids entertained for your trip!

Here are some things you want to consider when you are packing your car for a road trip.

1. The Trunk

Put your luggage in the trunk. This seems like a given. But I figured I’d better start there. Put all of your luggage in the trunk so it is out of the way and everyone has room when they are traveling.

I would also recommend getting a trunk organizer to place in the trunk of your car to gather all of the loose items that may be floating around. I have a trunk organizer in my vehicle and it is awesome. I don’t hear things rolling around or anything. I have my emergency kit in there and my reusable shopping bags as well.

2. The Back Seat

In the back seat, or on the floor of the back seat, I would put your To-Go Bag in the backseat because this is where you would have any entertainment items for your children so you would definitely want those as a quick grab for them.

Another item you could have in the back seat is a cooler for any drinks or snacks to munch on as you drive.

With snacking and drinking, there always comes trash. One of the best things that I got was a reusable garbage bag from a seller on Etsy. It is machine washable and it even clips on to the back of the headrest! It’s so convenient and it really helps with keeping the car clean!

3. The Front Seat

Here are some items not to forget to keep in the front seat with you:

  • bluetooth if you need to make a call

  • cell phone

  • phone charger

  • sunglasses

So basically, try to keep only the essentials up in the front with you so you are comfortable!
